You know why I am allergic? Cause I ate so many dang eggs my body said “Enough!”  Maybe it’s because of this newly acquired immune reaction that I have suddenly been seeing eggs EVERYWHERE I turn!

Like a dehydrated man crawling through the desert seeing an oasis, I see eggs.

Even Houzz has a whole pictorial today on Chicken Coops. Seriously. (Ironically, I have actually stayed in a renovated chicken coop in Provence, France, for a week many summers ago.  Aside from bumping my head on occasion, it was adorable.)

So am I crazy or are there eggs everywhere? It’s really a rather charming design element I think… or do I just have salmonella poisoning?

Oh, goodness. Its been over 10 years now that I left NYC, starved for love, vitamin C and a nurturing lifestyle. I still get New York magazine cause part of my brain still resides at 348 West 47th street Apt 2C. But thank goodness that the rest of me resides in Venice Beach.

I was paging through NYMag- which is a home away from home to my most beloved bloggers, the Fug girls. God knows they don’t need my props, doing plenty well for themselves , but I admit, between them and Rose Apodaca I get vocab envy. They are generally brilliant, with some of  the wittiest, random references ….and also THE TRUTH.

So here is the TRUTH. NYMAGS Spring fash review is a big ol mess, it proves my ADD is not refined or out of control enough to keep up with the layout. pg 144-146 are like a freaking memory game. I AM LEARNING NOTHING ABOUT FASHION. NY MAG get it together!!!!!

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Plus its sort of sweet, personal and um, common. Common in a good way. MIRA:

In truth,  architecture is for all, and there is no reason why a world-famous DJ/producer can’t get/share as much joy from funny little buildings as the rest of us.  He also throws in self-effacing nuggets like this:

ALERT: BRAGGING!!!

Sean Dougall  is the hands-down the most creative person I know. So creative that … sometimes I get a little jealous.

Sean and I both lived in this sweet little 1920′s  Venice bungalow apartment building, very Melrose place, where 11 casitas face an inner courtyard. One summer we instigated a roaming cocktail party. About 6 of the neighbors opened their homes in which they served a signature drink, a lil’ snack  and then we sauntered onto the next. I was first: primary coloured cupcakes garnished in candy, hot pink cocktails in striped glasses with neon straws and Madonna on the stereo.

Next? Seany’s lofty abode, white on white on white: Lychee sake martinis served in glasses MADE OF ICE, meticulously  crafted  hors d’oeuvres and vintage tunes on the record player. We got so smashed we ended up in ball gowns. ALL OF US. ( BTW I highly recommend when of these pub crawls with your neighbors anytime, it really BUILDS COMMUNITY.

Even when I have had a Dude- I  feel so PART OF THE MACHINE  participating in the dinner/roses/choco genetically reprogrammed routine. I’m a bigger fan of  impromptu romance. But who  isn’t?

When I worked at Style.com ( I like to say invented, but okay, worked) 10 years ago when the internet was  infantile, there were like 3 websites: Style.com, Daily Candy and Pinstruck. Oh 4,  Daniel Drennan’s New York Stories and 90210 reviews. FUNNY.

But back to Pinstruck. I know that a lot of peeps out there get a bitter and grumpy and pressured and “ohmy godanothervalentinesdayaloneandIambeingjudgedbut nooneisjudgingmeasharshlyasmyselffuckwherestheproseccoIcandrinkmywaythroughthis!” thought process.

DISCO BALLS FLOAT

About 6 months ago I got sort of obsessed with juices, the ones they sell at Rainbow Acres on Washington, conveniently sort of not really that conveniently  located on my way to work. I eat a salad everyday for lunch and am not afraid of fruit but this was like, main-lining vitamins and nutrition and I loved it.

Weird though, suddenly I kept running out of money towards the end of my paycheck. I eventually brilliantly realized that $50 a week was going down the drain a.k.a gullet in juice. That’s $200 a month. That’s $400 in 2 months. Do you know what else  $400 can buy you?

I was lucky enough to get one  for Christmas as a gift, NOT FROM MYSELF I might add.

End of story telling to my mother….

‘ Cause this all reminds me that had a crazy South African boyfriend when I was 21 (he was 34, red flag #1) and he loved juices…he forced me to do a shot of wheatgrass juice every time I saw him, and also drank so much carrot juice he turned slightly orange(#2).  He bought me a pink pager and paid for it so he could keep track of me(#3) He also loved cocaine (#4), but was a vegetarian. FUN!

No wonder it took me 16 years to come around!

ANYWAY. Under my own power, now my mornings look like this:

= I’ve only had so set my alarm 8 minutes early to get it all done, and there no longer has to be a line item in my budget for JUICE ADDICTIONS

At 7:15 this morning, my dear friend and yoga teacher from Australia knocked on my door. I thought it was the maintenance man.  I mean yeah, I was EXPECTING HER but not that early- Qantas flew extra fast under the full moon and she  got stateside an hour early. HAPPINESS.

SO I am skipping out early to spend time with her and go together to my FAVORITE OF ALL TIME yoga class, Forrest Yoga with Brian Campbell, at Exhale of course. I stumbled into Brian’s class about 3 years ago when I wasn’t working- it’s at 4:00 during the week so ya know, it was me and all the other slackers/actors/ yummy mums who aren’t at work that time of day. Needless to say now that I have a jobby job, I never get to go anymore.

My first time in his class  I was in the room ( moon room?) that has a little faux Ficus tree in the corner. I put my mat right by it and  thought THAT is why it  is called FORREST YOGA, ’cause there is a tree in the room. ( “Maybe she’s retarded”- Jock in 16 Candles). It’s not. It’s named after Anna Forrest.

ANYWAY. Back to Brian. He’s a noodle. A strong, fun noodle, and what I love is that he does EVERY SINGLE pose right along with you (never lost!) and he has this melodic, authentically enthusiastic (and occasionally goofy) way of talking you through every transition. I’ve been known to burst out in laughter when he really stretched his vowels.

I have never ever had abs like I did when I was doing this class three days a week-holy lord- and almost totally nailed my handstand, which when your center of gravity is in your sternum like mine, it’s tough.  He teaches more classes now then he used to so, given the chance, check out Brian’s class…and to get the full Forrest Yoga effect, stand by the FICUS like I did.

I love it, its my Tiffany’s. You know as in Breakfast at Tiffany’s? I can just go there and gaze and feel happy. My friend Angela got engaged there, which is awesome. They own David Hockney’s Pear Blossom Highway which I am dying for them to display. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.(That in fact, does not make me happy, get it the hell out of the archive already!)

When I got laid off several years ago, I tried to get a job there. A former boss of mine was friends with the Gettys (as in the FAMILY), so naturally, I asked if he could help me get an interview, a phone call, a sneeze in my general direction, ANYTHING. He said to me, ( I paraphrase) oh the Getty’s hate the Getty. So much so in fact they bid against the Getty for works of art at auction so they can’t have it.

THIS IS HOW RICH PEOPLE FIGHT. Can you imagine?

I hate you. I hate you so much I’ll spend $4M on a Picasso just to spite you! TAKE THAT!

Segue gone astray: So where I was going with all this was, I had never ventured into the Eurpoean galleries until this past weekend, where I came face to face with some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. I also learned that if you use Google Goggles on your Smartphone on pieces in the permanent collection you can instantly get an audio tour and pages of info on each work. Therefore I am not going to name these fabulous ladies for you and let you Google Goggle away.
